Billed as a ‘magic realist music video’, this new visual accompaniment to London based composer and producer Rafferties latest release lies somewhere between short documentary and surrealist music video. Staring South Central locals the Mays brothers as the central protagonists, this work gives us a form of ‘day in the life’ excerpt from the siblings lives and also stars their friends and family throughout the video.

Essentially filming what the three young men wanted to do on the day of the shoot, Director Vincent Haycock was able to achieve a very organic and natural feel throughout the film.

‘Build Me Up’ was released on May 20th and is now available for download.

Placing yourself back in an old environment can give you a new interpretation and understanding that wasn’t there previously. Ryan Segedi’s work has a familiarity and newness about it, a fresh outlook on tired landscapes that had been viewed a thousand times.

In this mini doc by film maker Alex Henry, we are granted access into the life and work of photographer Alana Paterson. Born and raised in England, Henry’s current work stands in stark contrast to the Jackass esq films he produced with his friends as a 13 year old. Now producing well considered and poignant pieces, Henry lives in the US and works for Philadelphia based ‘Run For Cover Records’ as the head of video and photography.

Describing herself as somewhat of a visual nomad traveling from place to place seeking her next source of inspiration or visual adventure, Paterson has an eye and love for nature that is evident in her portfolio. Giving the artist the opportunity to expand upon her art, life and creative practice, this film is a great watch for any creative and lends itself to our inquisitive nature.

“This year I’m working towards having a real bedroom.”

With his life at a crossroads and feeling discouraged with his industrial design degree, Ezra Caldwell convinced himself to take a dance class one night. This resulted with him switching his major and unbeknown to him sparking a mantra that he would live his life by.
His decision to switch to dance led him to discover his real passion. To ride the bike would become his life and love and his biggest struggle.

Written collaboratively by the films performer Etta Bond and Labrinth, this short Music Video opens up the doors of both contemporary collage and the visual music world. Shown as part of the Channel 4 ‘Random Acts’ series, this short was shot in one take and later edited in After Effects to achieve its fractured aesthetic that reflects a current trend for geometric visuals within the 2D art world.

Growing up around the hostile world of the skinhead culture, football terraces and the violence that comes with it, has given Jela experiences and memories that he still lives with and that surrounds his daily life.
His time spent using hard drugs and constant fights on the terraces, led to Jela’s life spinning out of control. He takes us through his childhood area reminiscing about his ill spent youth. His child like quality is extremely endearing and helps the audience feel at home in his story.

Talented Will Robson-Scott has produced some incredible documentaries that just seem to be on the rise, going from strength to strength with everything he makes. The London born photographer and filmmaker who chronicles a small snippit of his life on his tumblr account can be seen here.
